Alpacas For Sale
Alpacas For Sale
We know purchasing your first alpacas is a huge step and one that needs lots of consideration. Barbara was recently asked to write an article for the British Alpaca Society which you may find useful (click to access) Getting Started with Alpacas
We usually have breeding females alpacas for sale, although these may not be advertised. As we focus on top quality genetics and proven pedigrees, choosing alpacas from Beck Brow has resulted in us having many successful clients, who have gone on to recommend us to others. We have selected starter herds for numerous new owners, and continue our support in helping them make the best breeding decisions from our stud males. We also release some alpacas for sale from of our show team each year, for those wishing to add a champion or two to their existing herd. Whatever your remit/budget we do our best to meet your needs.
Occasionally we do offer stud male alpacas for sale, but we are very decerning about which males make the stud grade here at Beck Brow. Each potential stud male is thoroughly assessed regarding the qualities required to make the grade. We do not rely on show results (we have castrated many champions) but look at the genotype, as well as existing qualities, to help predict the progeny (offspring) of the males. If we release a stud male for sale, it is because we are confident he can carry our name with pride. If you are interested in purchasing a male with our genetics please ask. Few are advertised.
Each year we have a selection of pet boy alpacas for sale, but these do go quickly. Our boys are well handled and fully halter trained. They will have above-average fleeces which may be used or sold. We have sold many young boys as trekkers. We may also have castrated boys who are champions (but we have decided not to release them as studs). These boys are particularly well socialised having attended shows and also have the bonus of excellent fleece qualities.
We are often looking for good homes for retired and non-breeding females. These girls make lovely pets and also act as an attraction to hospitality businesses such as glamping. Please do ask if you are interested and can give any a long-term 5 star home.
We have very high standards of bio-security on our farm. We live in a very low-risk bTB area, bordering Scotland. All alpacas we purchase have had bTB Enferplex blood tests and fecal egg counts before entering our quarantine areas. All alpacas sold are given this same level of surveillance. Alpacas sold for export are Enferplex tested in addition to the statutory (less sensitive) skin tests. This means we are continually monitoring our herd health.
